Selected Readings
from the Hall Library

James Norman Hall was a prolific reader.  His personal library containing over 3,000 books is one of the largest personal libraries in any language in French Polynesia, and was one of his prized possessions.  Bookshelves line every wall of  his office and the family dining room. His precious volumes of literature kept him connected with the rest of the world and provided a documentary base for his historical writings.  The books were lovingly selected and cared for, and span seven generations of authors.  They include poetry, history and the classics as well as the works ofhis contemporaries and numerous studies on the Pacific  Islands.
